Lux Aeterna: readable archive
A plain reading path for the released archive records.
- The Knights Templar
An independent Order of mercy, escort and defence, chartered by the UEE in 2828.
- The Long Vigil
The Vigil kept the Empty Seat, Seven Hearths and Silent Ledger until the Proclamation at Tomar in 2822.
- Tomar — Mother House
In the Order chronicle, Tomar is the Mother House and seat of the Chapter-General. The Stone is kept in a town house below the castle hill.
- The Stone of the Temple
A non-miraculous object of oath and memory. Its current home is Tomar, not the flagship. The record says it travelled to Lisbon in 1810–1812 and never left Earth.
- The Stone — disputed origin
The tale of a sergeant carrying the Stone from Jerusalem is explicitly an in-world legend, not established medieval history.
- The Stone in Lisbon
The chronicle records one journey away from Tomar, to Lisbon. This qualifies the shorthand that the Stone never leaves Tomar.
- The Proclamation at Tomar
On 18 March 2822, Isolde Marr proclaimed the Order in the open at Tomar. This replaces the earlier website’s 2825 Return.
- The Temple Charter Act
The Charter of 13 October 2828 recognizes a self-governing armed order of mercy, escort and defence, independent of UEE command.
- The Three Gifts
Shield, Bread and Road express the Order’s commitments to protection, relief and accompaniment.
- The Three Refusals
The Order refuses credit, power and payment. Since 2822 it may use its name, but does not seek acclaim.
- The Shield Rule
The Shield Rule limits force to defence, requires treatment of all wounded and forbids mercenary hire.
- The Rule of the Cold Hand
The Order buys its hulls rather than accepting gifts that could compromise its independence.
- The Silent Ledger
Human custodians keep the Ledger and determine mercy. LUX is a representational archive interface, not an authority over the Bread or Roll of the Lost.
- The Printer’s Rule
The chronicle’s Printer’s Rule forbids taking up arms for one confession against another.
- The Seven Commanderies
Seven public Commanderies preserve the former Hearths. Outer Commanderies have a voice through their founding Hearth, not a Chapter vote.
- Miravet — Hearth of the Road
Miravet houses the Road Fleet’s escort, navigation and passage functions.
- Grumbach — Hearth of the Shield
Grumbach is the chronicle’s centre for Shield Fleet training and protection.
- Ravenna — Hearth of Letters
Ravenna’s commandery serves law, records and the Living Codex scriptorium.
- Limassol — Hearth of the Sea
Limassol is the home yard of the Order’s flagships. Worn hulls are broken rather than resold.
- Balantrodoch — Hearth of the North
Balantrodoch serves frontier and quiet operations in the Order chronicle.
- Paris — Hearth of Ashes
Paris serves Bread Fleet hospitals, the Temple Fund and the Notre-Dame memorial.
- The Outer Commanderies
Eleven Outer Commanderies serve frontier worlds and stations in the chronicle’s 2956 present.
- The Templar Fleet
Roughly 400 hulls serve in the Bread, Road and Shield Fleets.
- The Bread Fleet
The Bread Fleet provides medicine, relief, refugee transport and logistics under the Hospitaller-Master.
- The Road Fleet
The Road Fleet escorts travellers and convoys and provides pathfinding under the Commander of the Escort.
- The Shield Fleet
The Marshal leads the Shield Fleet’s warships in defence of those entrusted to the Order.
- KTS Jacques de Molay
KTS Jacques de Molay, an Anvil Odin, has served as the Order’s flagship since 2956. The Stone remains at Tomar.
- KTS Gualdim Pais
KTS Gualdim Pais, an Aegis Javelin, served as flagship from 2850 until 2956. It remains the second flagship and the Shield Fleet’s training ship.
- The Hearth-lamp
A lit lamp with its cover beside it accompanies every Templar ship. It is carried lit between flagships and covered only for the dead.
- The Empty Chair
The Empty Chair remains at every table and wardroom even after the Grand Master’s Seat is filled.
- The Vigil of the Seat
An annual vigil on 18 March keeps silence through the night with one lamp.
- The Chapter-General
The Chapter-General convenes at Tomar, with the seven Commanderies voting.
- Isolde Marr
The chronicle’s last Warden and 24th Grand Master led the Proclamation, Charter and Shield Rule.
- The 28th Grand Master
The 28th Grand Master has held the Seat since 2932.
- First Fire at Armitage
The Order chronicle recounts Marshal Odile Hartmann firing to protect the hospital ship Lamp of Tomar and its refugees.
- Caliban — We go in
At Caliban in 2871, the Order went in as others left. Eleven Templars died in the civilian evacuation.

- The Eighth Hearth
A rival lineage that split from the Vigil and now frames protection as a purchasable service.
