The Stone of the Temple
A non-miraculous object of oath and memory. Its current home is Tomar, not the flagship. The record says it travelled to Lisbon in 1810–1812 and never left Earth.
User-authored Star Citizen fiction.
Squared block of pale cream Jerusalem limestone, 3 ft × 3 ft × 2 ft (91 × 91 × 61 cm), about 1,250 kg; Crusader-era diagonal tooling, one corner broken, a small arrow-shaped mason's mark on one side; two shallow hollows on the top face, smooth and darker, never cleaned or polished. Stands on an old oak base under a linen cloth; no reliquary.
Legend tells that a Templar sergeant carried it from the Order's walls on the Temple Mount after October 1187, by Tyre, Acre, Sidon and Cyprus (kept at Limassol after 1291) to Tomar in autumn 1312.; no medieval record confirms it.
It has no power and the Order claims none: 'It is only a stone... a relic only in the sense that hands have made it one.'
Law: the oath goes to the Stone; the Stone does not go to the oath. Refused for Mars (2199) and for the flagship Jacques de Molay (2956). Hands are not washed until nightfall after the oath.
Left Tomar once: to Lisbon by ox-cart, 1810–1812. Never left Earth. Kept in the Charola's side bay, a storeroom (1357), and since 1834 in a Hearth-kin house in the town below the castle hill (a baker's kitchen, later the Ventura house; floor reinforced with steel in 1962). Moved up to the Charola by grav-sled only for the Proclamation.
Keepers named: Teodoro Assunção (c. 2199), Ana Sant'Ana (2791–2822), Inês Ventura (2026), Inês Ferraz (2956, keeper for twenty-two years; a retired schoolteacher, Bento Ferraz's cousin).
Custom: any Templar, of any species, may ask once in their life to place one hand on it: only once, only one hand, only by asking, never invited or shown for money. The keeper writes the date and 'one hand, asked', never the name.
