Allies, Rivals and the Lost
The Order’s remembered relationships, including its allies, rivals and the Roll of the Lost.
The account
- UEE: respected, occasionally resented, never owned.
- Banu: a Souli of reckoners audits the Ledger (the Given Mark, a ring with no number, puzzled them; after a year 'the only honest book'). Compromise: Banu Souli tithe unconditionally to the Temple Fund; no tithe buys a convoy and none is refused for want of one; renegotiated each Banu generation. The Order cannot follow criminals into Banu space: 'We kept the law, and the law kept them.'
- Xi'an: two observers at the Proclamation; the Compact of Memory (2824) trades copies of the Chronicle for Xi'an archival method; one observer of 2822 is said to still read each volume. Templar warships do not enter Xi'an space; Bread and Road go by invitation.
- Tevarin: the Living Codex of Rijora recorded from elders' recitations at Branaugh II since 2830 (Brother Elias Kade: 'I am holding the cup while they pour'); master copy with the Tevarin, sealed copy at the Ark. Road Fleet escorts Tevarin pilgrim convoys against XenoThreat; Tevarin fly in the escort wings. Stronger Together is a partner; Nemesis is hostile.
- Stanton: the Order sends a written answer and no delegate to the Stanton System Conference. Hurston resents the clinic ship's records; Crusader hosts a Templar anchorage on a lower Orison platform (and invoiced berthing after the Siege of Orison); ArcCorp is the moral problem; microTech's free vault offer is refused (the Ledger stays on paper).
- Pyro: hospital ship at the Harbour of the Flare near Terminus since c. 2954; neutral passage agreed station by station with Rough & Ready and Citizens for Prosperity; XenoThreat (Ruin Station) is no party; weapons lodged at the gangway, lamp lit. Commander in 2955: Dame Hana Okafor. A new Outer Commandery there is said to need a Commander.
- Roll of the Lost: 'P., who wrote it down' (Pierre de Bologna = Petrus the notary, 2823) and 'K., who has been found' (Senator Assan Kieren = Kasimir Tane, Levski clinic doctor, d. 2664; found by archivist Neve Almaric, 2955). Only the Orville 'clerk with a pen' stays nameless.
